In this study the citing situation of accredited Persian journals of Tehran University in 2001, which at least one of their issues have been published till the end of data gathering in this research, has been examined. The research methods used in the present stuey are survey and content Analysis. The results indicate that in total, 90 percent of the journals either have their own citing instructions or recommend following known citation styles. 39 percent of the citing instructions of the journals are based on “out of the text citation styles”, that 33 percent of which belong to NLM and Vancouver Styles. Also, 61 percent of the citing instructions of the journals are based on “in the text citation styles”, all of which belong to APA and Harvard styles. In terms of articles following their journal’s citing instruction, the findings indicated satisfactory situation. It is also shown that the citation systems of articles in two journals, having no citing instruction, are based on “in the text citation styles”.

This study reports a web log analysis of Elsevier’s ScienceDirect usage at Tehran University. The server traffic is highest in Tuesdays. The usage is highest during 12PM through 6PM and lowest during the early morning hours. More than half of the requested PDF files is successfully downloaded and the rest is responsed by error messages. This shows that the accessibility of c-articles is not satisfactory.

The purpose of the present study is to examine the impact of the Internet resources and tools on information-seeking behavior among faculty members in Tehran university for their research activities. Findings indicate using e-mail, search engines, Web browsers, FTP Mailing list and online databases are the most important Internet tools and services in the three faculty branches. The access rate of the e-sources from office was higher than the access rate from home and library. Findings also show that using of Internet was the most important information source beside the print resources in order to access scientific information. The humanities faculty believe that the impact of Internet on quality and quantity of researches are limited, but the science and engineering faculty believe that Internet is effective in the quality and quantity of researches. There was a significant difference between the impact of Internet on research process among three branches. There was no significant difference between the strategies for finding e-sources for research in these branches and also they use the references of printed sources in order to find relevant e-sources

The purpose of the present study is to explore the citation patterns of the non-personal names being entries in the Dehkhoda Persian Dictionary. Citation analysis was used to determine the status of citations in terms of types of references, citation languages, the frequency of the sources used, and the subject trends of the cited documents. The findings indicate that 438 documents were cited 5862 times in 4052 entries. The subject trend of the cited documents have been mostly to the class of religion. This fact shows the auther interest to the religious sources, probably because of the accessibility and validity of these types of sources.
