Developments in communication technologies have changed the library and information environment; And libraries have shifted from stant-alone libraries to information networks. This environment makes direct access to information easier for users, but this issue may challenge the role of librarians. Thus librarians and information scientists can perform a more effective role in information age by end-users training in access to information. This paper, in addition to emphasis on user education, describes strategies to guide the acaemic libraries for transition to digital future.
