Abstract

This research is a survey on the attitudes of librarians in hospital libraries affiliated to medical science universities of Iran, Tehran, ans Shalid beheshty, with respect to presenting library services to patients. According to the results of this research, only 6.1 percent of the patients use library servieces. Just 26.7 percent of Libraries are situated in a correct position which patients can use them. There are 30 percent of safery cases for coming of patients to Library. 3.3 percent of libraries specify budget on serving their patients. 6.7 percent of libraries consider patients as a part of the clients in their administrative regulations of libraries. 3.3 percent of libraries are trained how to serve. 80 percent of libraries agree that they arc satisfied with working at hospital libraries. 90 percent of libraries are interested in their work. Inspite of insufficient privileges, 83.4 percent of librarians arc ready to work in hospital libraries. In 86.7 percent librarians’ opinion, educational certificates play an important role in their success; and 94 percent of them believed that it is necessary to consult them in providing schedules and purposes of the library.
