Review of Collection Development Policies in the libraries Of Research Center and Institutes affiliated with Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO)

Abstract
Objective: The present study reviews the status of collection development policies in libraries of research centers and institutes overseen by the Agricultural Research, Education and Extensions.
Methodology: A survey method was employed. Information was collected by questionnaire sent out to 63 special libraries. 77.8 percent responded
Findings: 41 percent of libraries studied had a collection development sections. 22.4 percent have a written policy and objective. 83.8 percent secure their their information resources through donations, while 30.7 percent use exchange. 40.8 percent vet their collections annually while 26 libraries (53/1 percent) don't do so. 53 percent lack a selection committee. Suggestions were offered in order to optimize and create a balanced and coordinated collection.
