Analysis the number of Journals in Iran and comparison with the number of researchers

Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study is to analyze the number of medical journals published in Iran and compare it to the number of researchers.
Methodology: This study is an applied one and was done by using a descriptive survey methodology. Statistical population of this study includes all the medical journals (341 titles) and researchers (113693 people) that 16551 educator, 9639 educated and 87503 are related to students. Share of each researcher from journals during a year was calculated by using articles received (from 74 sample journals). Tools of data collection for this study include: researcher- made data checklist, direct and telephone interview, electronic posts and excel software for analyzing the data.
Findings: The findings of the study showed that the medical (public) with 122 titles and two areas of social security and medical and laboratory equipment, each with 1 title respectively as the highest and lowest number of journals devoted to themselves. Also medical science has no journal review-journal and ratio of all scientific–journals to every 10000 researcher in medical studies was 30 titles. In addition, according to papers submitted by researchers in 341 journals, 782 journal titles were predicted for researchers.
Originality Research: Results shows that despite of the rising trend of the journals & researchers, scientific journals of ministry of health, cure and medical training not accountable for publishing researcher articles in the field of medical sciences.
