Applying personal information management by graduate students in developing thesis based on personal information management domain model Case Study: Chamran university students, Faculty of Education and Psychology

Abstract

Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed at determining an application of personal information management developed by students at Masters and PhD theses through the study of the foundations and activities of PIM, based on Domain of PIM model.
Methodology: This research was an applied research of a descriptive type. The research population consisted of all graduate students of Shahid Chamran University in Faculty of Education and psychology who entered in 1391. According to the census, 110 students were identified and examined. The instrument for data gathering was a researcher-made questionnaire, the validity of which was measured by content validity and its reliability by the Cronbach's Alpha that was .0.0.96. Data gathered were analyzed by using descriptive (frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation) and inferential statistics (t-statistic single group, Independent t and one-group univariate analysis) where a=0.05.
Findings: The results of this study showed that an application of personal information management activities except for the refinding activity is higher than "average". There was no significant difference in terms of demographic characteristics. However, when the students become older, an application of finding, keeping & meta-level activities increases.
Originality: This study offers integration framework based on a specific model to examine the application of personal information management activities developed by students at Masters and PhD theses of Shahid Chamran University in Faculty of Education and psychology.
