Performance Evaluation of Libraries Affiliated With the Islamic Azad University, Tehran Science and Research Branch, Using the Sears Model

Abstract

Purpose: This study has tried to evaluate the performance of libraries affiliated with IAU – Tehran Science and Research branch using the Sears model.
Methodology: The methodology was survey and the population consisted of 42 librarians and 191 library users. Data were gathered using 8 questionnaires based on Sear’s model.
Findings: The research results show that the average value for librarians Job satisfaction is 19, for Self-Efficacy is 49.6 and for Organization Commitment is 99.9 which are quite high. The mean performance was 74.2 which are close to average. The findings also show that the Service Quality for the libraries is (26.3 and 55.2) which has resulted in relatively high Customer Satisfaction (54.7) and Customer Loyalty (17.7) toward the services received from the libraries of the IAU-Science and research faculty. The utilization of this methodology in evaluating the performance of libraries is new in Iran and its findings will give the librarians and owners of the libraries accurate and valuable information regarding their performance and will help them recognize their weak points/areas for improvements.-AA.
