Purpose: The present research aimed to study Internet and electronic recourses searching behavior of geography Ph.D. students of Tehran University.
Methodology: Using a questionnaire survey, demographic features and educational trends of 61 studied students were analyzed.
Findings: Results showed that all of the statistical population used e-mail services, databases and search engines. Most of the students in this study used Internet at their work place. On average 45.9% of students used Internet one hour a day. Almost half of students (49.2%) have had 3 years experience in using Internet and electronic recourses. The most significant ways that they learnt using Internet was personal experience and trial error manner. The most recognized motivation for using Internet and electronic resources was associated with research activities. Using commercial search engines was the most important method to access internet and electronic information recourses. Finally, there were some problems influencing using electronic resources for research activities such as high network traffic and low Internet speed.
