The presence of 12 unit credits of internship courses in undergraduate library and information science program in practical aspect of education indicates the importance of these courses. The present article surveys a brief history of internship in different science and professions as well as in library and information science in Iran and the rest of the world . The importance and objectives of internship courses are also reviewed with an emphasis on library and information science from the viewpoints of authoritative people.
