The present study deals with the quantitative study of the theses stored in various faculties and institutes of Tehran University and divides the theses institution - and level-wise. There are two basic objectives of the study. Firstly, to invite the attention of the students as


















well as the faculty to the idea of assigning theses, and secondly, to stress upon the teaching staff the need of taking the theses-writing more seriously, so as to improve their quality. If this latter objective is achieved, it would take off a great deal of pressure from academic programmes of the government, the process of research would become more organized and generate a new flurry in the research activities of the universities.
