Purpose: The Cataloging In Publication (CIP) is a vital and reliable sources for cataloging in many libraries. For this reason, the current study examines the extent of accuracy of LC classification numbers presented in CIPs' records of 155 Persian books cataloged in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Library of University of Tehran.
Methodology: Using content analysis method the CIPs of 155 Persian books were analyzed and compared to the LC classification scheme.
Findings: The results showed that CIP LC classification of 18% of books were incorrect. These errors can be divided into two groups: typos (1.28%) and non- typescript (16.72%) errors. In this article, we have demonstrated some mistakes with regard to LC classification books and OPAC.
