Introduction: the aim of this study is to evaluation and ranking the central libraries of comprehensive and industrial Universities affiliated to the ministry of science, research and technology.
Methodology: the present study has been done in a descriptive - survey method. the population of this study is a comprehensive university that ranked number 1 through 40 and industrial universities that ranked number 1 to 10 in the Islamic World Sciences Citation Center in 2015- 2016. These Universities were chosen Purposeful and Self – Selected Sample. Of the 50 selected libraries, 27 tended to participate in research and rank. Data collection tool was Researcher made questionnaire. Statistical methods include descriptive statistics to calculate the indices, Analytical Hierarchy process technique for index weights and criteria, and TOPSIS technique for rank.
Finding: findings from the evaluation of academic library studies showed that the libraries are in the index of communication and cooperation, planning, service, availability, availability and management in a more desirable situation than facilities, budget, staff and resources. the results of Ranking show that the libraries of, Urmia University, Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences university and Shiraz university are ranked first to third, respectively. Shahid Bahonar and Bu-Ali Sina University are also ranked last.
Conclusion: Urmia university library in the calculation of indices has the highest closeness to the solution of the positive idea and is ranked first in conformity with standards. Bu-Ali Sina University is located in the last place.
