The present article aims at studying the state of the journals and magazines published in the Islamic Republic of Iran, in any language, during the First Five-Years Plan period (1989-1993).
The relevant data was collected through yearly Directory of
Iranian Periodicals published by the National Library of Iran. Eight basic questions were asked about the various aspects of Iranian periodicals and an essortwas made to find their answers. Findings indicate that a high percentage of periodicals were published in Tehran, of which seventy five per cent were quarterly and monthly journals. The majority of these journals belonged to social sciences and humanities.
