About the Journal

The journal of Academic Librarianship and Information Research is a peer-reviewed, open-access, quarterly journal published by the University of Tehran Press and the Central Library and Documentation Center. As a cross-disciplinary and refereed journal, it focuses on the research process in library and information science (LIS), as well as research findings and, where applicable, their practical applications and significance. The journal aims to publish high-quality research papers addressing the most recent issues and developments in the field.

 

Special Issue Overview

The journal of Academic Librarianship and Information Research invites scholars, practitioners, and researchers to submit original manuscripts for an upcoming special issue focused on the integration of emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, and open science practices in academic libraries.

     This special issue seeks to explore the evolving landscape of academic librarianship and information research. We are particularly interested in papers that examine the research process in LIS, present empirical research findings, and highlight the practical applications and broader significance of these developments for modern academic libraries.

 

Suggested Topics

We welcome original research articles, review papers, short communications, and case studies. Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:

  • The impact of Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI on library services and research support
  • Open science, open access, and the evolving role of the academic librarian
  • Research data management and data literacy in higher education
  • Advancements in information retrieval and digital scholarship
  • Ethical considerations, privacy, and algorithmic bias in information systems
  • User experience (UX) design and accessibility in academic library platforms
  • The changing roles and competencies of academic librarians and information scientists

Note: Submissions addressing other highly relevant and innovative topics within the scope of the special issue theme are also encouraged.

  • Notification of Acceptance/Revision: [November 25, 2026]
  • Final Revised Manuscript Due: [December 15, 2026]
  • Expected Publication Date: [December 28, 2026]

 

Submission Guidelines

All submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.

  • Review Process: In accordance with the journal’s strict editorial standards, all papers are subject to a rigorous double-blind peer-reviewing process. Authors must ensure that all identifying information is removed from the main manuscript file to facilitate this process.
  • Formatting: Manuscripts should be prepared according to the journal of Academic Librarianship and Information Research author guidelines, available at [https://jlib.ut.ac.ir/journal/authors.note?lang=en].
  • How to Submit: Please submit your manuscripts electronically through the journal’s online submission system at [https://jlib.ut.ac.ir/contacts?lang=en]. During the submission process, please select the special issue title: "[Insert Special Issue Title]" to ensure your paper is routed to the Guest Editor.
  • Open Access: As an open-access journal, all accepted articles will be freely available to readers worldwide immediately upon publication. No Article Processing Charges (APCs) are required from the author(s).
